Resonator
Winner of the Vodafone Music Award ‘Best NZ Jazz Album 2011’ (the Tui Award)

After arriving in New York during the freezing winter blizzards of 2007, Reuben Bradley, armed with drum sticks and grim determination, tracked down master drummer Barry Altschul and undertook a series of lessons that would change his musical landscape forever.
On his return to New Zealand 6 months later, Reuben set about composing material for his next album, ‘Resonator’. More than just a modern Jazz album, ‘Resonator’ takes reference from the jazz tradition and brings to it a collage of rhythms and textures unique to his eclectic musical personality. The result is an album of musical diversification; high art meets organic improvisation and eclectic grooves.
‘Resonator’ features several leading lights in the Australasian music scene:
- Roger Manins (Saxophone)
- Miles Crayford (Piano/Rhodes/Synth)
- Mostyn Cole (Acoustic/Electric Bass/Sampler)
- Kirsten Te Rito (Vocals)
- James Illingworth (Synthesizer)
- Tom Callwood (Arco Bass)
The album ‘Resonator’ is proudly available through Rattle Records as the third instalment of the Jazz Subscription Series for 2010. With the payment of one small annual fee, customers are mailed every new release as they become available.
